A small porcelain Leach pottery bud vase with an expressive willow motif, synonymous with the Leach pottery, from the late 20th century.
The Leach Pottery in St Ives was founded in 1920 by potters Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamad. Leach was inspired by the potters he had learnt from in Japan and wanted to bring techniques he’d learnt there back to England with him. After Leach’s death in 1979 the studio closed down, but it has recently been revived and produces Leach’s ‘Standard ware’.
In good condition with studio stamp.
