The region of Vallauris in the south of France has long been associated with pottery due to the abundance of clay that sits below the valley. The 1950s is seen as Vallauris' golden era with it's vibrant glazes and artistic forms, drawing in the likes of Pablo Picasso who came to Vallauris to work with local potters on his own ceramics.
