XL Teapot by Seth Cardew (1934-2016) Wenford Bridge Pottery

£335.00

An oversized teapot by renowned British potter and sculptor Seth Cardew (1934-2016).

Seth Cardew was the son of acclaimed potter Michael Cardew. Training under his father, he continued the family legacy and became known for his own distinctive style, blending the traditional techniques learnt from his father with more modern aesthetics. He became known for his functional and uniquely expressive pieces created at Wenford Bridge Pottery in Cornwall.

This teapot is a beautiful example of his exceptional work, and a rare size. Made from stoneware in a pale ash green and brown poured glazes and a brushed iron design. The handle has some faint cracking where it joins the body that would have occurred in the firing process, shown in photos, but is in excellent sturdy and useable condition.

Stamped with both the maker’s mark and Wenford Bridge Pottery mark.
